Q .    Is Izhai an Indian Brand?

A.    Yes. Izhai is a registered Indian brand name of SGSY special project for handloom weavers. This project is a multi crore project funded by Govt of India and Tamil Nadu. - Izhai has a Chennai based office, retail store, and a design cell. Which also wholesales a collection of various textile products. Izhai products depict the ancient heritage of Tamil nadu Handlooms.

Q .    Where can I buy Izhai products in India?

A.    We retail our products through exclusive brand-owned store at Chennai. For details, visit Contact on the bar above.


Q .    Are Izhai products available internationally?

A.    No. Not yet. We plan to expand our store to ship, to customers around the world in the near future. In addition efforts are being taken to market Izhai products to retail and wholesale buyers around the world.


Q .    Where are your manufacturing facilities located?

A.    Izhai does not have a brand owned production unit. But sells the products woven in 13 districts of Tamil Nadu by the weavers below the poverty line. Our mission has always been to work with village-based artisans across Tamil Nadu employing their regional textile skills and specialties. This commitment has helped preserve the traditional crafts of Tamil Nadu and created employment opportunities in rural areas. We also have our own design cell updating the weavers with color forecasting, products, designs, technical skills and market.


Q .    Are all Izhai products handmade?

A.    We try to maximize the handmade process, using hand-woven and hand block-printed fabrics as far as possible. The plain fabric is decorated using hand process such as embroidery, embellishing etc.


Q .    Do Izhai sizes conform to international norms?

A.    There are no true international norms for clothing and home textiles as every brand tends to have its own sizing standards. When it comes to Izhai products the best approach is to take ones own measurements.


Q .    What is the thought behind Izhai?

A.    Izhai’s objective is to create an interest and a market for the handloom fabrics made in Tamil nadu. Our business in textiles is designed to not only to provide quality hand-made products for our customers, but also to support and encourage the continuation of these Indian traditions by paying a fair price for them. We believe that only Fair trade will sustain these traditions in the long term.


Q .    What are the advantages of handloom fabrics?

A.    The handloom process and techniques of production gives the textile a unique character. In addition, handloom fabrics breathe well, are cool in summer and retain body warmth in the winter.


Q .    How does Izhai classify its different products?

A   All the Izhai products are woven in handlooms. Each and every product bears the tag containing artist code, technician code, production area code, product code, weaver code and washing instructions.


Q .    What if an item is out of stock?

A   We make every effort to keep all products in stock. However, there may be times when unexpected demands exceed our supply. We will notify you when an out of stock item becomes available which will allow you to place a new order for that product.


Q .    Can I have the product gift wrapped?

A.    In the future we hope to offer this service.


Q .    Can I include a gift message with the package?

A.    In the future we hope to offer this service.


Q .    How long will it take to receive my order?

A.    We make every effort to process your order as quickly as possible. We usually require 3 to 4 working days to process your order. However if the quantity ordered is in case the item ordered is under production it may take longer to process the order. In such cases we keep you posted through email or fax.


Q 13.    What currency will my order be billed in?

A.    Your order will be billed in the currency of * India Shopper + India Delivery = INR prices depending on the ordering and delivery location.

Q 15.    Can I email or fax my order?

A.    Currently the only way to place your order is by in person.


Q 16.    Can I call in my order?

A.    Currently we do not have a call in number for placing orders.


Q 17.    How can I cancel my order?

A.    Once you confirm payment of your order, your order cannot be changed or cancelled. You will need to contact us through the Request for Cancellation by fax within 12 hours of placing your order for us to be able to confirm this cancellation. In case we have already processed your order you will be advised that the cancellation is not possible. As we aim to maintain quick turn around times on our order processing, dispatch and deliveries, we may not be able to support your request unless it is received within the stipulated time frame. Cancellations are solely at the discretion of Izhai.
